Quivering (1)

This product has been tested on the following operating systems: Windows XP and has a average rating of 1

The last rating (1) has been submitted on 2003-03-01 12:00:00 by Anonymous running Windows XP:
The Windows version installs OK on Windows XP and DirectX 8.1, but it can't start correctly even with compatibility mode enabled - I tried it with DirectX acceleration enabled and disabled but it made no difference. The DOS version could be installed with the help of compability mode and VDMSound, but when you try to run it (using compatibility and VDMSound) it complains that you need to set the FILES environment variable to 100. I tried many strategies for setting this variable via compatibility Advanced modes but the program still complains.

I also tried running this on an old Windows 98 laptop. The Windows version installs OK but refuses to run (it suggests that you restart Windows). The DOS version installs OK, but complains that you have to set the FILES environment variable to 100 (it complains even if the value IS 100).

Steve Norris, one of the artists who built this game, confirms that as far as he knows Quivering will only run on Windows 95.
