Use Scanwizard 2.55 (says compatible with Win9x/NT) as 2.60 version does not add scsi interface. Once rebooted and found drivers, for virtual scsi device, it works a treat, also on Windows XP.

Windows Vista 32-bit version (RTM and SP1) works fine with the ancient ScanWizard Pro version 3.09 software downloadable from microtek.com, even though the microtek site does not state it is compatible with Windows Vista. There is a 64-bit Windows driver for Microtek scanners (not available from microtek.com) that is floating around the Internet (http://www.planetamd64.com) that works with Windows Vista 64-bit version (SP1) but has issues with VIA chipset motherboards.

I also was having the locking
problem with the europe drivers. But, the 2.6 beta is working fine.

Microtek finally released the ScanWizard 2.60 (not
beta) Windows 2000 compatible scanning software for their parallel port scanners.

and Win2k will finally recognize this scanner, ad allow you to use the
parallel port pass-thru to your printer. You may still see an exclamation
mark under device manager for your Microtek SCSI drivers..But everything
works perfect.

Installing scanwizard 2.60 killed any conflicts earlier versions were having
with my ASPI layer and works as expected with TWAIN under PS5.5. use aspi 4.60
from adaptec if you also have a scsi card and aspi-compliant proggies.

2) I have had the same problem that others had posted about on the MS
newsgroups that it would cause the system to hang during install.
3) I also had the freezing problems with the driver from the microtek
europe site. However, I was able to get the scanner installed using a
beta scanwizard 2.6 available at ftp.microtek.com/microtek/betasw
